Why we’re starting Dresco Health & Aesthetic Hub: The vision behind safe, discreet, doctor-led care.
For as long as we can remember, healthcare has been part of our world. We come from a family of doctors, and that upbringing shaped not only how we see medicine, but how we see people: as individuals with stories, worries, responsibilities, and hopes — not just symptoms or appointment slots.
Over the years, we’ve had the privilege of working across both private healthcare and the NHS. In fact, our journey began with experience in private healthcare first, followed by working within the NHS. That combination has given us a deep respect for what the NHS stands for, and a clear-eyed understanding of the reality on the ground. It has also helped us recognise a gap — and an opportunity — where independent healthcare can support patients and complement the NHS, rather than compete with it.
That’s why Dr Shashikiran Gaddehosur Chandrasekhar and I, Dr Dee Chennenahalli, are building Dresco Health & Aesthetic Hub — a shared dream created to deliver premium, safe, and patient-centred care.
The NHS Is Noble — and Under Enormous Pressure
The NHS is one of the greatest public services in the world. It is built on fairness, compassion, and the belief that healthcare should be available to everyone, regardless of circumstances. Many of us in medicine chose this profession because we believe in exactly those values.
But we also have to be honest: demand is rising, complexity is increasing, and workforce shortages are real. Patients are waiting longer to be seen, appointment availability can be limited, and clinicians are often carrying unsustainable workloads. None of this is the fault of patients or staff — it’s what happens when a system designed for a different era is asked to meet today’s needs at scale.
In primary care, especially, we see the consequences every day:
- People are delaying care because they can’t get seen quickly
- Conditions are worsening before support is accessed
- increasing frustration and anxiety for patients
- Increasing pressure, stress, and burnout for staff
This isn’t a criticism of the NHS — it’s a reflection of how much pressure it is under.
Why Private Healthcare Has a Role
Private healthcare isn’t a replacement for the NHS. It shouldn’t be framed that way. But it can be a practical part of the solution.
When done properly — ethically, transparently, and safely — private services can:
- Provide timely appointments for patients who want or need faster access
- Support early assessment and intervention (often preventing deterioration)
- Reduce demand on already stretched NHS appointment capacity
- Offer longer consultations when people need time and clarity
- Provide flexibility for follow-up, reassurance, and continuity
In simple terms, if some patients choose private care for appropriate needs, that can help free up NHS time and resources for those who need it most.
At Dresco, we see our role as helping to fill those capacity gaps, while maintaining high clinical standards and strong governance.

What We Provide Now — and What’s Coming Soon
Currently, Dresco provides doctor-led aesthetics, delivered with a strong focus on clinical safety, informed consent, and natural, ethical results.
Soon, we will expand to provide:
- Private GP consultations
- Minor surgery and procedures
- Lifestyle medicine and preventative health
- A specialist hub where independent consultant clinics and GP-led specialist services can be delivered on-site via a robust practising privileges model, using our CQC-compliant rooms
We are also building the service with discretion in mind. Some people want privacy because they have professional roles, public-facing jobs, or simply personal preferences. Others want a quieter, less rushed environment to talk through sensitive health concerns. We respect that — and we’re designing the patient journey accordingly.
Discreet care doesn’t mean hidden care. It means professional, respectful, confidential care, delivered with dignity.
The Aesthetics Problem: Unsafe Practice Is Becoming Normal
There is another reason Dresco is needed — and it’s one that concerns us deeply.
Over recent years, we’ve seen a rise in:
- Non-medical injectors
- Services delivered without appropriate clinical training
- Unclear product sourcing
- Poor complication management
- Inadequate consent processes
- Patients not knowing who is treating them, or what is being injected
This has led to real harm — from infection and scarring to vascular complications, disfigurement, and severe psychological distress. Too often, when something goes wrong, patients are then forced to seek help from the NHS to manage complications that could have been prevented.
Aesthetics can be wonderful when done properly. But injecting is not “beauty therapy.” It’s a medical intervention, and it should be treated with the seriousness it deserves.
Making Doctor-Led, Medical-Grade Aesthetics More Accessible
One of our central goals is to make safe, doctor-led aesthetics more accessible to people who want treatment but don’t want risk.
At Dresco, we focus on:
- Medical-grade products from reputable suppliers
- Doctor-led assessment and clear clinical suitability checks
- Proper consent (including risks, alternatives, and aftercare)
- Sterile technique and strong infection control
- Clear escalation routes and support if any complication occurs

We want to raise the bar and set a different expectation: that if you’re having an injectable treatment, you deserve to know:
- Who is injecting you
- Their credentials
- The product being used
- The risks and what happens if something goes wrong
This shouldn’t be “premium” — it should be basic safety. Our job is to make it normal again.

Dresco is also being built as a hub that supports carefully vetted independent clinicians — consultants and GPs — through a practising privileges and room rental model.
That isn’t about simply renting rooms. It’s about creating:

Patients benefit because the environment is consistent, safe, and professionally managed — and clinicians benefit because they can focus on care in a well-run setting.
